AI agents in web3: The Emerging Opportunity

AI agents are becoming integral to blockchain ecosystems, particularly as we see smart agents driving over 28% of transactions on chains like Gnosis. This insight, combined with the increasing prevalence of smart accounts (as seen in the rapid rise of Worldcoin), reaffirmed our belief that the future of blockchain will be powered by AI agents, securely managed by smart accounts.

We are already seeing many new projects come up, with a diverse range of use-cases, such as gaming AI agents, autonomous portfolio managers, and prompt based agents.

As we dove deeper into these AI agent use-cases, couple of key trends became apparent:

AI Agents Will Dominate On-Chain Operations:

The majority of on-chain activities in the future will likely be carried out by AI agents, given the growing demand for automation and intelligent management of crypto assets.

This delegation can happen on a scale - how much is controlled by the AI and how much is handled by the user. For example, in some cases users can delegate certain tasks completely to the AI using scoped permissions infra with DAN. While in other cases, the AI agent can be used just to recommend certain actions and manage smaller stuff like gas while the user makes the decision on their own.

That’s why all types of users - from normies to degens - will start using AI agents for their on-chain operations in some form or another. And why it’s predicted that AI agents will handle over 80% of all blockchain transactions.

Smart Sessions: Smart Sessions enable smart delegation, wherein users can allow NOMY to take certain decisions & execute on behalf of the user within scoped permissions.
